The site
The KuraFire Network is the online home and weblog of Faruk Ateş, Web Kaizen Specialist. It is primarily a place of learning more about the Web and all of its many aspects, but it also comes with a touch of personal interests.
It is our hope that what you find on this website somehow inspires or helps you in your endeavours, whether it is web design, development or any other thing that you do. That is, ultimately, the most worthwhile goal we could imagine.
This site is built with Web Standards, which have been the base for its immense flexibility and scalability. You can find out more about this on the Validation page.
Every animation you see on this website is powered by FACE, the powerful new technique by Faruk Ateş and Tim Hofman.
All headers on the site are made from photographs taken by Faruk Ateş and have been enhanced in Photoshop CS 2, the excellent imaging application by Adobe. Photoshop CS 2 was also used for the designs of each of the 21 unique themes you can find scattered across the site.
The backend that powers this site is Snelsite, the Enterprise CMS focused on web standards, scalability and flexibility. Snelsite was developed primarily by Faruk Ateş while he worked at Media Design, and is one of the first CMS's in the world that outputs guaranteed valid, True XHTML documents with ensured semantic markup.
Faruk Ateş built (most of) this site on his 15" 1.67 GHz Powerbook with Mac OS X Tiger, and he highly recommends any serious web designer or developer to look into getting an Apple computer for his or herself. Life has never been sweeter since OS X Tiger. Also highly recommended: a 23" Cinema HD Display. If you've ever wanted to have the best color representation available for you on a screen, Apple's Cinema HD Displays are what you need.

The design process for this site took well over 3 months to complete, with an additional 3 months taken for CSS, markup and writing all new content.
Factoids
- This site underwent a Live Redesign that took several months and was never completed
- The Live Redesign was an experiment in seeing what troubles an Elastic Layout would bring
- While this is version 8, the first released version of this site as a weblog was already version 6
- Prior to version 6, KuraFire Network existed on the www.kurafire.com domain and was mostly a portal to various other sites started by Faruk Ateş
- Versions 1, 2, 5 and 7 were never completely finished
All times are in CET. It is now 19:44.
