The sex of Web Standards

Here's one for you:

Using Web Standards is like sex: Sure, it may give some practical results but thats not why we do it.

Discuss.

I will write my vision on this here once we've had some initial responses; don't want to steal anyone's thunder :-)

I enjoy it, but I'm not sure whether dolphins do web standards too.

And how would you classify Microformats? Advanced techniques for the well-practiced and in-shape?

It's the way how information is parsed between people.

Sex, in its purest form, is a joining of mind, body and soul. It is a delicious and ever so satisfying form of communication...that gives you a glimpse of nirvana.

Sex = a purposeful act, reaching out, connecting.

So, how would I compare sex to Web Standards...I think that the web, in it's purest form, allows the joining of minds in an incredibly synergistic way...a way that makes me believe that anything (and I do mean ANYTHING) is truly possible.

And Web Standards...would be, for me...equivalent to...The Guide to Getting It On (an updated guide to sex).

I don't recall ever reading in the tabloid newspapers about someone getting help with their web-standards from two proffessionals at once...
